Squid Game 3 is going out with a bang.

Netflix revealed that the third season of Squid Game debuted as the #1 show globally in 93 countries—essentially every region where the platform is available. The show also earned 60.1 million views within its first three days, making Squid Game 3 the ninth most-watched non-English TV show on Netflix.

Premiering on June 27 after a relatively short six-month break, Squid Game 3 picks up immediately after Season 2 and continues Seong Gi-hun’s mission to end the deadly competition once and for all. Inho returns as the Front Man and welcomes the VIPs back as spectators, while his brother Junho continues searching for the island where Gi-hun competes.

The season ended to mixed reactions, with many viewers confused about the final scenes and speculating about a possible connection to the rumored American remake—something director Hwang Dong-hyuk has denied. While a direct sequel seems unlikely, Hwang has expressed interest in a potential spin-off, though it won’t happen anytime soon.

Squid Game has achieved remarkable success since its debut four years ago. Season 1 made history as the first Korean drama to top Netflix’s global weekly rankings and became the most-watched series at launch, racking up 1.65 billion hours viewed within 28 days. Season 2 pulled in 68 million views within three days and ranked #1 in 92 countries.

The series follows 456 desperate contestants recruited to play deadly versions of children’s games for a chance to win 45.6 billion won. It has earned multiple awards, including SAG wins for Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-yeon, and a Primetime Emmy for Hwang Dong-hyuk’s directing.
