It’s been a full year since the main story of Under the Oak Tree came to a close, but fans won’t have to wait much longer to see Maxi and Riftan again. The beloved couple is making their return in a brand-new bonus side story.
Manta has officially announced that Under the Oak Tree: One Peaceful Afternoon in Anatol will be released exclusively on the platform. This marks the second side story in the series, following The White Dragon, which dropped on July 24, 2023. The upcoming chapter releases on April 19.
Under the Oak Tree is a romantasy webnovel written by Suji Kim. Set in a medieval-inspired world, the story follows Lady Maximilian Croyso, the stuttering and emotionally scarred daughter of Duke Croyso. To offload his military duties, the Duke forces Maxi into marriage with Riftan Calypse, a humble knight. After a disastrous wedding night, Maxi is certain Riftan will leave her—but three years later, he returns from war and whisks her away to his castle, treating her with a tenderness and respect she never expected. As Maxi begins to grow into her own, so does their slow-burning romance.
The webnovel was adapted into a hit webcomic by artist P and writer namu for Season 1, with Seomal taking over for Season 2. Season 4 of the webcomic wrapped on March 22. Both the novel and comic have received physical print editions through Inklore, with the webnovel making history as the first Korean novel to land on the New York Times Best Sellers List.
