TWICE’s “TAKEDOWN,” the lead single from Netflix’s hit animated film KPop Demon Hunters, debuted at #199 on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global Chart with 1,118,914 filtered streams.
As explained by a Reddit user, a “filtered stream” is a legitimate play that passes Spotify’s bot-detection measures. For a stream to count toward charting, the song must be part of a playlist with at least two other songs placed between repeats—this discourages listeners from artificially inflating numbers by looping a single track. As a result, many fanbases create “filtered” playlists to ensure streams are counted accurately.
Alongside the song’s success, TWICE also re-entered Spotify’s Top Artists Global chart at #198 just two days before “TAKEDOWN” charted. At the time of the post on Reddit, the group had risen to #185.
KPop Demon Hunters debuted at #1 on Netflix’s U.S. Top 10 Movies list and topped charts in multiple countries. The film, co-directed by Chris Appelhans and Korean American director Maggie Kang, follows the story of HUNTR/X (pronounced “Huntrix”), a K-Pop girl group made up of members Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who moonlight as demon hunters. The characters are voiced by Arden Cho, May Hong, and Jiyoung Yoo, with singing vocals by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI. TWICE’s “TAKEDOWN” leads the film’s soundtrack.
