Han Sohee has been offered the role of Cha Hae-in in the live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling.
The live-action adaptation of the hit webnovel/webcomic is starting to take shape with a casting offer extended to Han. The actor’s agency has not yet confirmed whether she will accept the offer, only saying that Solo Leveling was one of the projects she is considering. If she accepts, she’ll be starring alongside Byeon Woo-seok, who has been confirmed for the role of Sung Jinwoo.
Han entered the acting scene in 2017 when she played Yoon Seo-won in the drama Money Flower. She achieved her breakthrough in 2020 as Yeo Dakyung in The World of the Married, earning a nomination for Best New Actress for Television at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards. She has starred in several webcomic-to-live-action adaptations, including Netflix’s Nevertheless and a teaser for The Villainess is a Marionette. In 2021, she portrayed Yoon Ji-woo in My Name and later took on the role of Yoon Chae-ok in Gyeongseong Creature.
Solo Leveling debuted as a webnovel written by Chugong on KakaoPage in July 2016. While it gained steady success, its webcomic adaptation by DUBU in March 2018 exploded in popularity, amassing more than 650 million views. Shortly after the webcomic ended in December 2021, Anime Expo 2022 announced an anime adaptation. A-1 Pictures animated and produced the first season, which premiered in January 2024, with Season 2 following a year later.
The Solo Leveling universe continues to expand. A sequel, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, launched in April 2023 with Daul writing the continuation. A webcomic adaptation soon followed, with Jin as the artist and Dangdo as the writer.
It’s no surprise that a live-action is on the way—after all, who doesn’t love a good underdog story? Sung Jinwoo begins as the weakest E-rank Hunter, more burden than asset to his team. When he barely survives a double dungeon, he discovers that a mysterious entity called the System has selected him as a player. The System grants him limitless potential to grow stronger—“leveling up.” As Jinwoo gains power and battles increasingly dangerous monsters, he uncovers a hidden world where humanity faces annihilation from powerful immortals known as Monarchs. Only Jinwoo can prevent their destruction.
Solo Leveling‘s webnovel and webcomic are available on Tapas, while the anime streams on Crunchyroll. Yen Press holds the license for the print editions.
