Kakao Page released the final chapter of The Villainess is a Marionette on April 7 KST, officially bringing the beloved manhwa to a close.

On February 21, Kakao Page announced the series would end with Episode 111, encouraging fans to stay with Kayena’s story through its conclusion. Originally a web novel, The Villainess is a Marionette was later adapted into a webcomic with artwork by Manggle.

The story follows a modern-day woman who transmigrates into the body of Kayena Hill, the most beautiful woman in the empire—and a doomed villainess in a novel. Determined to escape her tragic fate, Kayena decides to rewrite her destiny and become the one pulling the strings this time around.

In 2022, Kakao Page released a series of live-action teaser trailers featuring a star-studded cast. Han Sohee portrayed Kayena, ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo took on the role of Duke Raffaello Kidrey, and Lee Soohyuk played Regef, Kayena’s ambitious brother. The teasers were well-received by fans.

As of now, the English-language version on Tapas is on Episode 102 and has been on hiatus since August 2024. In a message to readers, Team Tapas explained the break was to give the creative team more time to work on upcoming chapters.

Dear Readers,

Thank you for your continued support of <The Villainess is a Marionette!> This series will be entering a short hiatus in order to allow the team more time to work on episodes. Thank you and we’ll see you again soon!

While fans wait, they can revisit the story on Tapas or start collecting physical volumes, which IZE Press is releasing.
