Netflix’s animated sensation KPop Demon Hunters is on a record-breaking streak, and now it’s heading to theaters. The Sony Animation-produced musical fantasy not only held its spot in the streamer’s Global Top 10 for the seventh straight week (July 28–Aug. 3), but also climbed to No. 4 on Netflix’s all-time English-language movies list.

Since its June 20 debut, the film has earned 158.8 million views, surpassing countless blockbusters and now trailing only Red Notice (230.9 million), Carry-On (172.1 million), and Don’t Look Up (171.4 million). With seven weeks left in Netflix’s 91-day viewership window, KPop Demon Hunters still has room to rise.

The only title to beat it that week was Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2, with 40.8 million views in its first full week.

Critics and fans have embraced KPop Demon Hunters for its high-energy animation, action-packed story, and infectious original music. Songs like “Golden” and “Your Idol,” performed by the film’s fictional K-Pop groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, have broken into the Billboard Hot 100 and dominated streaming platforms. The characters have sparked massive fan engagement, inspiring thousands of fanfics and fan art pieces within weeks of release.

Now, fans will finally get the chance to see it on the big screen. Netflix is bringing KPop Demon Hunters to select Regal Theaters on August 23 and 24 in a special sing-along format. The screenings, quietly revealed via Fandango, mark the film’s first wide theatrical run, after its initial three-screen Oscar-qualifying debut. Tickets are already on sale.

Whether streamed at home or sung along to in theaters, KPop Demon Hunters has secured its place as one of 2025’s biggest pop culture milestones, and its momentum shows no sign of slowing down.
