CASE FILE COMPENDIUM reveals NSFW Vol. 6 cover and new artist

Yeaaaah, this is definitely not a book you want to take to any conservative family reunions or read on public transport.

Seven Seas has unveiled the cover for Volume 6 of Case File Compendium: Bing An Ben, and it’s a serious departure from the rest of their danmei lineup. Known as one of the spiciest entries in their catalog, Case File Compendium lives up to its reputation with a cover that features the now-iconic car scene between He Yu and Xie Qingcheng. There’s a lot of skin—and frankly, we’re not complaining.

Volume 6 also marks the debut of a new illustrator, Wil, who now handles both the cover and interior art. They replace Boki and yubuxiu (cover artists) and DanKe (interior artist), who worked on the first five volumes. Both Boki and DanKe left the series in November 2024. In a series of now-deleted posts on X/Twitter, Boki claimed she hadn’t been paid and had been mistreated by Seven Seas. She later issued a formal statement saying she was dismissed due to late submissions. DanKe stepped away to focus on other projects.

In response to the wave of fan support and reactions to the cover, Wil took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their gratitude:

“I’m truly sorry that I can’t adjust my drawing style to match the previous artist’s, but I hope everyone can appreciate the illustrations as a different interpretation.
Also, since this is my first time illustrating He Yu and Xie QingCheng, things might not be perfect just yet ^^~ but I’ll do my best to get more familiar with them moving forward. Thank you for your understanding!”

Written by Rou Bao Bu Chi Rou, Case File Compendium is her third danmei series following The Husky & His White Cat Shizun and Remnants of Filth, both also licensed by Seven Seas. Translated by Ben Bingham, the series debuted on February 13, 2024, and is slated for 10 volumes total.

Not All Ties Bind
