Lord of Mysteries fans have a surprise waiting for them.
Webnovel, the official platform for the popular steampunk series, announced that a new side story titled Nighthawks’ Logbook will launch on June 28—the same day the donghua premieres. According to Webnovel, the story will only be available for a limited time, though the platform hasn’t specified how long it will remain on the site. The last update to the series was a bonus chapter released two years ago.

Lord of Mysteries spans 1,430 chapters and two bonus chapters across nine volumes in English. The novel first appeared on Webnovel’s English platform six years ago and was originally published on the Chinese platform Qidian.
The series has inspired a manhua adaptation, which was re-released in January 2025, and an upcoming donghua, which will stream on Tencent, Muse, and Crunchyroll. The anime will be available in multiple languages, including English, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, and French.
Director Xiong Ke—known for Mo Dao Zu Shi—directs the donghua, with production by B.C. May Pictures, the studio behind The King’s Avatar. The team plans to adapt the series into five seasons.
Yen Press holds the English print license and describes the series as:
Through the storm of steam and machinery, who can achieve the extraordinary? In the mist of history and darkness, who whispers to me? When I woke up from the haze of mystery, I found myself in a world of guns, cannons, giant ships, airships, difference engines; potions, divination, curses, hanged men, and sealed artifacts. But the light still shines between it all, and the mystery is never more than two steps away. This is the legend of the Fool.
Fans eager to dive into the Lord of Mysteries universe can start reading on Webnovel now. The first print volume, The Clown, Part I, hits shelves on July 29.
