Netflix’s newest animation is brought to you by a South Korean studio. Bass X Machina is the latest Netflix original joining the streaming platforms catalogue, created by LeSean Thomas (Cannon Busters) and produced by South Korean animation studio, Studio Mir. Studio Mir has previously worked on LOOKISM, the animation adapted from the popular WEBTOON series, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, and X-Men ’97, to name just a few.
Bass X Machina is a 6-episode limited series that stars Brian Tyree Henry, Janelle Monáe, Tati Gabrielle, and Cree Summer. With only a day since release, the series has already scored a 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s still early, but there’s already a lot of social media chatter praising the limited series as well.
According to the official log line:
In a lawless Steampunk West overrun by brutal outlaws, machines, and supernatural terrors, a father is forced to become judge, jury, and executioner—knowing that every act of justice meant to protect his family may ultimately cost him the very people he’s fighting to save.
