Erotica in many forms, written or visual, have always been a part of our lives, be it as a creator or a consumer. Advancement in technology has brought variety to the types of medium and eased access. Nowadays, one of the most preferred ways of engaging with erotica, or stories in general, is through audio. And that’s where MagicWave comes in.
Narrated books and podcasts are already one of the most essential ways we engage with stories, and erotic audios in short story form is slowly but surely cementing their place in the sphere. MagicWave is a platform that recently celebrated its 2nd year and contributes to this exact space with its diverse library and creative studio.
We had a chance to talk with MagicWave about what it offers, in what ways it differs from other established erotic audio platforms such as Quinn, its creative studio, stance on generative AI, and upcoming projects!

MERVE GIRAY: Could you introduce MagicWave to our readers?
MAGICWAVE: MagicWave is an immersive audio entertainment platform for fantasy, dark romance, romance stories, and spicy audio experiences with the app available on iOS, Android and desktop. Our content blends film-style production with high-quality voice talent, original storytelling and immersive sound design to create a cinematic listening experience.
MagicWave has reached more than 250,000 downloads globally and continues to expand the way audiences discover and experience audio storytelling. Listeners can join MagicWave for free and explore a growing library of audio experiences, with additional content and benefits available through Prime Membership.
Our open Creator Growth Program supports more than 100 active voice actors and writers, from emerging talent to established creators. Creators can start their accounts for free, upload both free and Prime audio content, build their audiences and earn revenue through the MagicWave platform. Their work has collectively generated over 100 million plays across platforms and the program is designed to help creators grow while giving listeners access to more diverse voices and stories. MagicWave also produces episodic audio series called MagicWave Originals, that are developed and produced specifically for the MagicWave platform.
GIRAY: In what ways is your platform similar to and different from other existing erotic audio platforms?
MAGICWAVE: MagicWave shares the same goal as other immersive audio platforms: creating intimate and emotionally engaging experiences through voice and storytelling. However, we felt there was a gap between short, personality-driven erotic audio and traditional audiobooks. There was an opportunity to treat intimate audio as a complete entertainment format with original characters, cinematic production, serialized storytelling, emotional development and different genres.
We often describe MagicWave as “TV for your ears.” The idea is that audio can be sensual, but it can also have interesting characters, compelling stories, atmosphere and world-building. Our goal was not simply to make audio more explicit, but to create experiences that feel more emotionally immersive and imaginative, especially for women.
What makes MagicWave different is that we approach and treat many of our audio content as full productions rather than standalone recordings. We combine original scripts written by writers and authors, professional voice performances, immersive sound design and episodic storytelling to create stories that listeners can connect with over time.
Another important part of MagicWave is that we are building with creators, not just for listeners. Independent voice actors and writers are at the center of our community and we give them a place to share their work, grow their audiences and connect with listeners. We’re focused on creating stories that listeners can get invested in, not just moments they listen to once.
GIRAY: What is the range of your library? How particular or accepting you are when it comes to the collection?
MAGICWAVE: You name it! Our catalog spans romance, fantasy, dark romance, comfort and roleplay experiences, allowing listeners to explore different emotional worlds and relationship dynamics. We offer a wide range of categories and genres for listeners to explore based on their interests, preferences, and moods.
Dark romance is a particularly important genre for MagicWave because we see a growing audience looking for stories with more complex characters and intense emotional connections. We want to bring the same level of world-building and character development found in popular romance and fantasy entertainment into an immersive audio format.

GIRAY: On the front page of your website, we are greeted by “Collections”, which groups the audio stories into broad categories such as Fantasy Romance, Boyfriend Audio etc. Do you solely provide erotic stories that vary on the spice level, or are SFW or everyday settings are a part of your roster?
MAGICWAVE: MagicWave is not limited to erotic stories or different levels of spice. We see audio as a broader entertainment format that can explore romance, fantasy, relationships, emotions and imagination.
SFW content is an important component of MagicWave. We have seen many comfort, praise, sleep aid audios perform quite well. Our Collections are designed to help listeners discover stories that match their interests and moods. Our collections tend to change over time and are updated as new audios are published. Some stories explore more intimate or erotic themes, while other audios focus on emotional connection, relationships or creating moments of escape for the listener.
At the core, we want to create immersive storytelling experiences with memorable characters, engaging narratives and rich sound design. We want listeners to have the freedom to explore different genres and find stories that resonate with them, whether they are looking for romance, fantasy, comfort or something more sensual or spicy.
GIRAY: Who is your imagined audience? Who are you aiming to capture the attention of when producing or providing stories?
MAGICWAVE: Our audience is predominantly women, with most listeners between the ages of 18-34 years old with a meaningful secondary audience aged 35-44 years old. The US and UK are our largest markets, with growing interest from Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We also have male listeners who enjoy romance, fantasy, and character-driven audio fiction, but they represent a smaller segment of our growing audience.
What is especially important to us is that MagicWave is not a “mainstream” one-size-fits-all platform. A significant part of our identity is that we intentionally create space for communities that have historically been underrepresented or underserved in audio storytelling and erotic media. This includes LGBTQ+ listeners, POC audiences, gaming and fantasy communities and fans of niche romance subgenres who often do not see their experiences or desires reflected in traditional media.
For many of these listeners, MagicWave is not just entertainment; it is a place where they can hear stories that feel culturally and emotionally familiar, where identity, desire and imagination are not flattened or generalized. Whether it is queer romance, diverse casting or fantasy worlds inspired by gaming and mythologies, we actively design for multiplicity rather than a single “default” audience.
We found listeners do not come to MagicWave only for explicit content but for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: escape, comfort, emotional intimacy and immersion in a character or fictional world. We see an appetite for both standalone, voice-led experiences and longer, serialized stories that give listeners a reason to return.
The audience is fundamentally the one we hoped to serve: women who felt underserved by traditional erotic media, alongside broader communities who rarely see themselves centered in audio storytelling. Our understanding of how genre-specific that demand is has evolved. Rather than treating “erotic audio” as one broad category, we see that listeners are increasingly seeking distinct experiences.
This is also reflected in our ethos: Made by Women, for All of You. It is not just a tagline, but a creative principle. It signals that while our perspective is rooted in female-led storytelling, the worlds we build are intentionally inclusive, diverse and open to anyone who finds resonance in them.

GIRAY: With regards to tags/settings, do you go by what is trending at the moment within the erotic media scene? Or do you strive for a balanced library?
MAGICWAVE: With tags and settings, we take a balanced approach. While we pay attention to what is trending and gaining popularity within the broader romance, fantasy and erotic audio spaces, we don’t want to build our library only around short-term trends.
Our goal is to create an inclusive platform where listeners can discover a wide range of experiences. We regularly review listener interests, emerging themes and the growth of different tags to understand what audiences are looking for and where there may be opportunities to expand. Because we work closely with writers and creators, we have introduced new tags based on their feedback and requests. Creators often bring unique storytelling styles, characters and themes to the platform, so we want our categorization system to accurately represent the variety of content they are creating and for the listeners they may be creating for.
At the same time, we focus on maintaining a diverse and balanced library rather than over-indexing on any single category or trend. By combining audience insights with our broader storytelling vision, we can continue adding content that reflects what listeners enjoy while also introducing them to new things.
GIRAY: Do you, or in the future, plan to accept feedback or requests from listeners?
MAGICWAVE: Yes! We are always open to feedback and requests from our listeners. Community feedback is important in helping us understand what our audiences enjoy, what they would like to see more of and how we can continue improving the MagicWave experience. Listeners can share their thoughts and suggestions directly with our team at [email protected]. We value hearing from our community and use their feedback as one of the ways we shape future content and make platform improvements.
GIRAY: The company’s statement is clear on removing shame from erotica but it’s not just cishet women who consume such works. You do have F4F/M4M tags among the categories, is it up to the creators to create stories for those tags? Or does Magic Wave encourage inclusion in any way?
MAGICWAVE: We believe immersive storytelling should reflect the diversity of the people who enjoy it. While creators bring their own voices, perspectives and creative interests to the stories and voices available, MagicWave also encourages broader representation across the platform. Our tagging system helps listeners discover different types of experiences and relationship dynamics, including F4F, M4M among other categories. We also support creators in exploring a wider range of perspectives and also include categories such as 4A audio (audio created for all audiences) to help expand representation beyond traditional formats.
MagicWave is built to give creators the flexibility to tell the stories they want to tell while making it easier for listeners to find experiences that reflect their interests, identities and preferences. We believe a diverse library creates more opportunities for connections between creators and listeners.

GIRAY: I’d like to explore your Creative Studio section. Could you explain how your Creative Studio works and what it offers to creators in more detail?
MAGICWAVE: Similar to YouTube’s creator model, our MagicWave Creator Studio is designed primarily for audio uploading and management. We also want to feature everyone involved in bringing each work to life, including writers and illustrators, so they can create a MagicWave account and receive credit on every audio work they contribute to. This feature was already integrated when we first designed the interface.
All creators can create an account for free, upload their audio content and choose whether to make their work available as free or Prime audio. There are a limited number of free audio uploads, which serve as teasers showcasing a creator’s style and performance. Prime audios, meanwhile, offer creators opportunities to monetize their content.
GIRAY: Does creative studio cater to voice actors only? Can writers or illustrators be a part of this studio?
MWMAGICWAVE Creator Studio is not limited to voice actors. While voice performers are an important part of the audio experience, we also welcome writers and other creative contributors who are involved in the storytelling. Many voice actors on the platform are also writers, producers and independent creators who develop and produce their own audio projects from start to finish. We recognize that creators often take on multiple roles, from writing and character development to performance and production.
Audio storytelling is a collaborative process and Creator Studio is designed to support different types of creative contributions.
GIRAY: Some of the stories are labeled as “Original Audio Series”. Does it imply that your library is partially created in-house and partially created/uploaded by independent creators?
MAGICWAVE: That’s correct – our entire catalog of audio content is partially created in-house and partially created/uploaded by independent creators. MagicWave Originals are plot-driven, episodic audio stories developed and produced specifically for the MagicWave platform. Each Original Audio Series is developed and produced by MagicWave’s in-house production team. We collaborate with writers to create original scripts, work with independent voice actors to perform the characters and have a dedicated post-production team that handles editing, sound design and final production to deliver a fully immersive audio experience. Unlike creator-uploaded audio, MagicWave Originals are platform-led productions designed to deliver longer-form, story-focused experiences.

GIRAY: It is stated in the media kit that Magic Wave helps with refinement but is it only the case if the creator asks for help? Or is the company involved regardless to ensure a level of quality? When a creator submits an audio, is it uploaded directly to your library? Or is there a screening done by the company before it goes live?
MAGICWAVE: Creators have the freedom and ability to share their work directly with listeners. Our company’s operation team screens each audio work one by one after they have been uploaded.
As creators continue to grow with MagicWave, they can access additional support through our Creator Growth Circle Program. This program provides creators with more resources and opportunities to develop their work, such as operations support, post-production/editing services, promotions in the app, access to scripts, opportunities for commissioned work and more.
For MagicWave Original Series and commissioned audio projects, the process is more collaborative and there is more oversight from the MagicWave team. These projects are developed with MagicWave’s involvement from the beginning. They go through our internal production process including script development, feedback, editing, and post-production to ensure the quality and immersive experience expected from our original content.
Having these options allows us to support creators at different stages by giving independent creators the flexibility to publish their own work while providing more hands-on support and production resources for creators and projects that are part of our original and growth programs.
GIRAY: As you stated on your website, we wouldn’t have these stories that give us joy and pleasure if it weren’t for the voice actors, sound engineers, developers, and artists alike.
One great concern for many is generative AI, as it severely affects the livelihood of creators from all fields, but more so of small creators. What is your stance on generative AI’s inclusion in any step of production such as voice recording, audio editing, profile or cover images, story writing etc.?
MAGICWAVE: We are not anti-AI. We use AI-assisted tools in parts of our workflow such as research, brainstorming, meeting notes, grammar checking and data analysis. But there is a big difference between using AI as a tool and using it to replace or replicate a creator.
Both our VA and writer agreements include AI riders. For VAs, submitting a recording does not give us permission to clone their voice, create a synthetic version of it, or use it to train an AI model. For writers, commissioning or licensing a script does not mean we can use their work to train AI, copy their style or generate unrelated content from it. Any use beyond the original agreement would require separate and explicit consent.
For us, the line is consent and transparency. Creators should know how their work will be used and they keep any rights they have not specifically licensed or transferred. A regular production agreement should never be treated as blanket permission for AI use.
We have also collaborated with many artists from around the world to bring our audio stories to life through illustrations and animation. We see technology as a way to connect different forms of human creativity and give a story more ways to reach people, not as a reason to remove the creators behind it.
More importantly, we strongly believe human emotion, especially intimacy, cannot be replaced by AI. Intimacy lives in the breath, hesitation, vulnerability, chemistry and all the little imperfections that make a performance feel real. AI may be able to imitate a sound, but can it really give you the human touch, or a moan that actually makes you feel something?
We want AI to make daily work more efficient and open up new creative possibilities but never at the cost of a creator’s identity, ownership, credit or compensation.
GIRAY: How safe is your website for scraping of the works of creators? How do you, if you have such a screening method in place, screen the submissions with regards to generative AI?
MAGICWAVE: We offer a level of security comparable to our main competitors. While we don’t use a dedicated screening tool for generative AI, we do review each work by listening to them as part of our screening process.
GIRAY: What should listeners look forward to in the upcoming months? Do you have any new features or events in the works you’d like to share with us?
MAGICWAVE: Yes! We are refining our website search functions and many other key functions. We’re also excited to launch our special Halloween series collaboration and a few other dark romance audios so stay tuned…
We thank MagicWave for reaching out and the interview opportunity. You can visit MagicWave‘s website for more info and previews.
