On September 18, Hulu green-lit a live-action adaptation of WEBTOON’s hit romance-action series, The Mafia Nanny.
The adaptation will be written by Max Gill (Victoria) who will also executive produce the project alongside Charlize Theron‘s production company, Secret Menu. David Madden and Sera Tabb from Wattpad Webtoon studios will also executive produce the project.
This is yet another WEBTOON among several — including Lore Olympus, Stagtown, The Remarried Empress, Vampire Family, and Sable Curse, to name a few other series that have been green-lit — to become adapted to the screen, either as a live action or as an animated project. This is also not surprising considering WEBTOON also recently launched Short Live-Action dramas of their IP’s such as Love Bites, Maybe meant to Be, Rules for Dating Trash, Dirty Deeds, and I’ll Marry your Brother on the platform back in August.
The Mafia Nanny, Written by Violet Matter (Forever After) with original art by Sh00, is centered on Davina, an elite nanny who lives by three rules: protect the charge, obey the principle, and don’t get emotionally attached. Those rules are tested when she is hired to protect and care for Mikey Angelini, the son of Gabriel Angelini, Venetian underboss and head of the Angelini crime syndicate. As Davina grows closer to Gabriel, she risks being dragged back into the world of organized crime that she had thought she had left behind forever.
As of now, there is not yet a planned release date for the live-action adaptation for The Mafia Nanny. However, the comic is available as a physical collection from WEBTOON Unscrolled, if you want to catch up on the story in the meantime.
