Highly praised animated film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle may add another award to its belt as the Critics Choice Super Awards announced their nominees. Nominated for the Critics Choice Super Award for ‘Best Superhero Movie’, the film has received widespread praise throughout its theatrical run.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the first movie of the set trilogy, following main character Tanjiro Kamado as he and the other members of the Demon Slayer Corps as they plot a rescue mission to save Lady Tamayo. Their plans fail however, plunging them all into the stronghold of the demons’ lair, the Infinity Castle. Now Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and the rest of the Hashiras must battle against their toughest foes yet to complete their mission. The film was released in Japan theaters on July 18th, 2025 and ended its run on April 9th after an impressive 266 days of screening. On opening day, the film earned 1.64 billion yen (11.11 million USD), making it the highest opening day gross in Japanese box office history. Additionally, within eight days of its release in Japan, the film had sold over 7.5 million tickets and became the fastest film in Japan to reach that achievement. The film grossed 70 million in its opening weekend in the U.S. upon its debut September 12th, 2025, setting the record for the biggest opening weekend for an international film in the U.S.
Demon Slayer is no stranger to awards. The feature film took home seven awards at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards in May 2026 including Film of the Year, Best Score, and Best Voice Artist Performance in the English, Brazilian Portuguese, Castilian Spanish, German, and Latin Spanish categories. Alongside that, the film also received the International Animation Award at the Critics’ Choice Awards Celebration of Cinema and Television. The highly renowned movie will be available to stream on Crunchyroll starting July 28th, 2026.
