In a shocking announcement, Lezhin Comics JP has announced on its website and on social media that it will be terminating its service on January 31st, 2027. Originally established in 2013, Lezhin expanded its services to Japan in 2015 and later an English site the same year. Now, after eleven years, Lezhin Comics JP will be shutting down without an option for users to save their previous purchases. Even though the Japanese, Korean, and English services used to exist as one, which allowed users to buy chapters in different languages without switching out, the company implemented a change that divided each into it’s own system in 2024.
The platform will merge with Lezhin owned Japanese platform, BeLTOON. The main difference between the two was that BeLTOON mainly appealed to women while Lezhin JP was meant to capture genres for both men and women. Within the announcement, it specified that the name “Lezhin” will still be in use as “a webtoon platform and studio brand for creating diverse content.” This is likely referring to Lezhin Studio and Lezhin Snack, which are the drama and film production arm of the company. It also leaves open the possibility of future projects with the Lezhin name, but for now, the webcomic platform itself will be unavailable next year.
Users can apply for their purchases to be transferred over to BeLTOON starting October 2026, however, some stories and purchases may not be eligible due to “circumstances on the part of the publishers and authors.” The company will post more information on which titles are ineligible for transfer at “a later date.” Points and in-platform currency are also eligible for transfer, though that will come with caveats as well.
New content updates for ongoing series will continue until “around December 2026.” All accounts that do not apply for a transfer will be deleted and their points will be forfeited. Any bonus and promotional points will also be invalid after the platform is terminated.

Lezhin Comics, which has distributed numerous works including webtoons from Korea in Japan for 11 years, will be discontinuing its service on January 31st, 2027 (Sunday) at 23:59. We sincerely apologize to our users for this sudden announcement.
Up until now, we have delivered many works through two platforms: “BeLTOON” and “Lezhin Comics”.
After careful consideration, we have reached this decision with the aim of consolidating more comprehensive content and services to provide you with an even richer and more satisfying experience.
We have decided to integrate both services into a single platform.
Accordingly, the services of Lezhin Comics will be integrated into “BeLTOON”.
Please note that the name “Lezhin” will not be discontinued. Going forward, it will continue to be used as a webtoon platform and studio brand for creating diverse content.
We will continue to develop our content business.

Schedule until the end of service for Lezhin Comics
1) Service end date and time
– Service termination date and time: January 31, 2027, 23:59
– Viewing period for the artwork: Until January 31, 2027, 23:59
*Saving or downloading purchased works is not supported.
Thank you for your understanding in advance.
*After the service ends, the right to use (view) the purchased content will be revoked. It will expire.
2) Regarding the termination of the monthly subscription
– Monthly subscriptions and automatic renewals will cease on August 1, 2026.
・For customers currently using our service, your account will be automatically terminated on July 31, 2026. The contract has been cancelled.
*Points you have already purchased can be used as usual until their expiration date.
*No additional charges will be incurred after cancellation.
3) About points
– Point purchases and new member registrations will be available from August 1, 2026 onwards
Points purchased by July 31, 2026 will be valid for 180 days from the date of purchase.
・As a general rule, we do not offer refunds for points.
*In accordance with Article 11 of the Terms of Service, points and bonus points are non-refundable except in cases where there is a legal obligation to refund them.
*Points that are not used within the validity period will expire, so please use them as soon as possible.
*Please note that if you cancel your membership before the service ends, any points you have will be forfeited immediately.
4) Account migration (BeLTOON)
– For customers who request it, the Lezhin Comics account will be operated by the same company.
We are preparing to transition to “BeLTOON”.
• We plan to begin accepting applications for account migration in October 2026.
– If you apply for account migration, your purchased works and owned works will be transferred.
You can transfer your points to BeLTOON and continue using them there.
*The transferred points will be valid within their original expiration date on BeLTOON.
Expired points are not eligible for transfer.
*Free usage tickets and promotional benefits are not included in the transfer.
However, bonus points awarded at the time of point purchase are eligible for transfer.
*Due to circumstances on the part of the publishers and authors, some works may not be included in the migration.
We will inform you about any works that are not included at a later date.
*Account migration will be carried out sequentially. For details, please check the official announcement and registration information.
*If you wish to migrate your account, please contact BeLTOON regarding the provision of their services.
You will need to give separate consent regarding the use of your personal information as necessary.
We will send you information via email.
*After the account migration is complete, you will no longer be able to use the Lezhin Comics service.

*Further details regarding the transition will be announced separately.
