An anime adaptation for the series manhwa Overgeared has been announced on the official Overgeared Twitter and updated on the official website. Slated for a 2026 release, the South Korean series written by author Seanal follows main character Youngwoo Shin. Obsessed with video games and working odd jobs to pay off his loans, Youngwoo immerses himself in the fantasy VR game Satisfy as his online warrior character “Grid”. After stumbling upon a tome that consists of knowledge left by a legendary blacksmith, Youngwoo fights to regain all of his levels back while traveling to hone his skills and team up with powerful allies to search for the legendary gear. A teaser trailer and visual was released on both Twitter and the official website.
The anime will be adapted by Redice Studios alongside Team Argo and directed by Ayako Kono who has previously worked on popular films such as Your Lie in April and Sword Art Online The Movie- Progressive. Yoshiaki Fujisawa will provide the music and is noted for his works on TV series such as Revue Starlight and Land of the Lustrous. The animation team at JCSTAFF will also lend their talents with the adaptation, the team producing series such as Requiem of the Rose King and Toradora!. Additionally, Ryosuke Tanikawa, who worked on One Punch Man and Food Wars, will be assisting with the character design. While the full cast list has yet to be announced, Japanese voice actor Tatsumaru Tachibana (Mori Jin from The God of High School and Utashima from Blue Period) will be voicing Grid and Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki from Jujutsu Kaisen and Mina Ashiro in Kaiju No. 8) will be voicing Yura.
