Tappytoon won big at the 30th annual Webby Awards, taking home the People’s Voice
Award in Apps, Software & Immersive: Entertainment, Sports & Events. It was also named a Webby honoree for Best Visual Design.
This is a milestone for Tappytoon, as the Webbys are the Oscars of the Internet. The Webby Academy chooses five nominees for each category from hundreds of entries, which are then publicly voted on to determine the winners.
For Tappytoon, this win celebrates the app’s approach to making serialized storytelling accessible and discoverable. It also reconfirms that Korean webtoons have become a mainstay of digital entertainment internationally.
“Winning the People’s Voice Award in Entertainment, Sports & Events is an extraordinary honor—not just for our product in its 10th year of service, but for the stories at the heart of it,” said Ernest Woo, Chief Strategy Officer at Tappytoon’s parent company, Contents First.
