BTS ARMY have voiced frustration on Reddit over what they describe as misleading advertising by Jin’s company, IGIN.
The controversy centers on IGIN’s perfume, which was listed as 120ml during three separate rounds of pre-orders. However, after receiving their shipments, many fans discovered that the bottles were only 50ml. Although IGIN eventually apologized and updated the product description on its website, the company did not issue an official announcement on social media. Fans also claim there was no refund, compensation, or price adjustment offered for the size discrepancy.
Disappointed ARMY members shared their thoughts online, with some writing, “Jin seems very greedy and money hungry post military,” and “IGIN has been controversial since the start—they were caught engaging with tweets from fans who sent funeral wreaths to the HYBE building and wished harm on the other BTS members.”
IGIN is a joint venture between Jin and celebrity chef Baek Jong Won. Beyond the perfume issue, the brand was also recently reported to government authorities for alleged violations of country-of-origin labeling rules.
