The long-awaited donghua adaptation of Who Made Me a Princess will premiere on September 28.
Colored Pencil Animation produced the series, which will stream on iQIYI and Crunchyroll. For the Japanese dub, the adaptation was retitled The Fated Magical Princess: Who Made Me a Princess. Trailers highlight Athanasia’s first death, her reawakening, and her turbulent relationship with her father—the emperor who killed her in her first life.
The cast includes Sumire Morohoshi as Athanasia and Tomoaki Maeno as her father, Claude. Ryohei Kimura voices the knight Felix, Nobuhiko Okamoto plays the magician Lucas, Shuichiro Umeda portrays noble heir Ijekiel, and Manaka Iwami voices Jennette. Additional casting revealed Azumi Waki as Lilian York, Kana Hanazawa as Athanasia’s late mother Diana, Junichi Suwabe as Duke Alpheus, and Hidenori Takahashi as Anastacius.
Daoko performs the opening theme “Ii yo,” while XAI sings the ending theme “Sono Hitomi de.”
Based on Plutus’s webnovel, the story was adapted into a webcomic illustrated by Spoon, which debuted on RIDI on December 20, 2017, and concluded after three seasons in April 2022. On English platforms, the series has drawn millions of readers, with Tapas recording 3.3 million views and Tappytoon reaching 9.2 million.
The story follows a young woman who awakens in the body of Princess Athanasia, a character doomed to die at her father’s hands. Determined to change her fate, she sets out to win her father’s love and survive.
Readers can find Who Made Me a Princess on Tapas and Tappytoon, and Seven Seas Entertainment has published a print edition.
