Hong Kong-based author and illustrator Mimi Tsoi‘s young adult fantasy original graphic novel is set to release on November 10th, 2026. Published by Nakama Press, Land of Ming Yi Vol. 1 draws from Chinese mythology and philosophy for a coming-of-age adventure built around Yin, Yang, and the Five Elements. When a disastrous ritual shatters the last of the golden birds, an ancient force that once plunged the land into darkness awakens. Four unlikely teenagers are pulled into a prophecy involving powerful relics, rising magic, and a world rapidly tilting toward catastrophe.
The graphic novel has contributions by Ling Chau with lettering and translation by Book Buddy Media. Tsoi is also the founder of Ink Pen Creative Limited. Chinese philosophy and numerology serve as thematic undercurrents throughout her comics work.
