KPop Demon Hunters is heading to theaters for the first time.
Produced by Sony Animation, the film will screen in select Regal Theaters on August 23 and 24 in a special sing-along format, giving fans the chance to belt out their favorite tracks on the big screen.
The event, quietly revealed on Fandango, follows the success of other sing-along releases like Wicked. For most viewers, this will be their first chance to see the movie theatrically—Netflix originally limited it to just three screens for awards eligibility purposes.
Since premiering June 20, KPop Demon Hunters has racked up 158.8 million views, making it Netflix’s fourth most-watched English-language film ever. It holds a rare 97% Rotten Tomatoes score, with praise pouring in from both critics and K-Pop fans.
The soundtrack has fueled much of the hype. Tracks like “Golden” and “Your Idol,” performed in-universe by HUNTR/X and Saja Boys, have landed on the Billboard Hot 100 and dominated streaming charts. The characters have become instant fan favorites, inspiring over 3,600 Archive of Our Own fanfics within a month, even outpacing Star Wars: Andor.
Reports suggest Netflix is exploring ways to grow the film into a multi-platform franchise. But for now, KPop Demon Hunters is taking a victory lap—in theaters, with lyrics on the screen and fans singing along!
