Everyone, meet the first villain of Villains Are Destined to Die.
Ize Press has revealed the cover for the first volume of Villains Are Destined to Die on their X (formerly Twitter) account. The cover features black die-cut elements, gold detailing, and a portrait of Derrick Eckhart, Penelope’s adoptive older brother. A ram’s head adorns the top of the design. The English edition uses the same cover as the original Korean release.
Ize Press first announced Villains Are Destined to Die at New York Comic Con in October 2024, alongside ORV and Semantic Error. They confirmed the publication window in February 2025.
Written by Gwon Gyeoeul, the Villains Are Destined to Die webnovel follows a college student who starts playing a reverse harem video game called Daughter of the Duke’s Super Love Project. After falling asleep, she wakes up inside the game—but not as the easy-mode heroine, Ivonne. Instead, she finds herself in the role of Penelope, the misunderstood villain. Knowing that villains only get bad endings, she must win over one of the love interests to escape her doomed fate.
Tapas first licensed the digital release of the webnovel, where it has since earned 1.8 million views. Artist SUOL adapted the story into a webcomic, which is currently available on Tapas, Tappytoon, and Manta. Ize Press holds the print license for the webcomic, and released the latest volume—Volume 7—on February 18.
The novel will be available in print, eBook, and audiobook formats in August 2025
