The final Squid Game is here. Who will survive to the very end?
Netflix shocked fans by dropping the first trailer for Squid Game 3 and releasing stills from the upcoming final season without warning. The key visual shows Seong Gihun looking up with a grim expression, surrounded by rows of the iconic coffin gift boxes.
The new stills and trailer confirm what many fans already suspected: Seong Gihun returns to compete in the remaining games. Although Season 2 teased a new take on “Red Light, Green Light,” that variation didn’t appear in the trailer. Instead, viewers got a glimpse of a different game—one that resembles a gumball machine where players receive either a red or blue ball. Another scene reveals a massive yellow room with a knife-shaped cutout on one wall and a keyhole-shaped cutout on the other. The masked millionaires also make their return.
Squid Game is the brainchild of Hwang Dong-hyuk, who spent 10 years trying to bring it to life before Netflix picked it up. It went on to become the first Korean drama to top Netflix’s global Top 10 weekly most-watched TV shows. Season 1 premiered in September 2021, and Season 2 followed on December 26, 2024. Both seasons earned widespread acclaim, with Season 2 receiving a Golden Globe nomination. It racked up 68 million views and ranked No. 1 in 92 countries.
The series boasts an all-star cast: Lee Jungjae as Seong Gihun, Gong Yoo as the Recruiter, Im Siwan as Lee Myung-gi, Jo Yuri as Kim Junhee, Wi Hajoon as Hwang Junho, Park Gyuyoung as the Pink Soldier Kang No-eul, and Lee Byunghun as the Front Man.
In Squid Game, 456 players get a chance to change their lives by competing in a series of deadly children’s games. The prize: 45.6 billion won. But with the odds stacked against them, the real question remains—how many are willing to pay the ultimate price?
Rewatch Squid Game on Netflix before Squid Game 3 premieres on June 27.
