Kagurabachi manga goes on hiatus before anime world tour

Serialization will return August 2026

-

The official Kagurabachi X (formerly Twitter) account announced the planned hiatus of the popular Weekly Shonen Jump series. After the Monday June 29th, 2026 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga serialization will go on a hiatus until August 2026.

To our readers,

Thank you for always reading ‘Kagurabachi’. From Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 31, released on Monday, June 29, ‘Kagurabachi’ will be on hiatus. Professor Hokazono had intended to continue writing, but after repeated discussions, he decided to take a break for a certain period to deliver his work in a stable manner. The series is scheduled to resume around August. We look forward to your continued support of ‘Kagurabachi.’

-Weekly Shonen Jump Editorial Department

This announcement comes follows the latest Kagurabachi hiatus in May 2026, which was due to author Takeru Hokazono‘s health issues. The Jump Editorial Department mentioned “repeated discussions,” which could have included the requirement to take a long break in order to stabilize the manga’s serialization.

Online reactions voiced the collective opinion over the welcome change in Jump’s culture as Hokazono’s well being should come before his manuscript. Historically, several manga authors have also experienced health issues likely due to the stress of publishing a weekly serialized manga. Notably, chapter 182 of My Hero Academia was published with draft sketches as it was unfinished due to the tight Golden Week schedule. Kohei Horikoshi would eventually sketch and fix the finalized panels for the book bound version in My Hero Academia volume 20.

Kagurabachi is set to go on its Anime World Tour starting with Anime Expo 2026 in a couple of weeks. Although Hokazono is not set to attend the tour stops, Takuro Imamura (Editor of Kagurabachi), will be in attendance for its first premiere. More details on the upcoming Anime Expo 2026 panel with its guests can be found here.
