Star Trek is beaming into a new frontier — the vertical scroll webcomic. WEBTOON, Kisai Entertainment, and Paramount have FINALLY announced the two original WEBTOON series, which was first teased during Star Trek Day 2025. Launching on May 17, 2026, Trekkies can look forward to two all-new canon webcomic series set within the Star Trek universe, Stargazers and Recollection.
Star Trek: Stargazers and Recollection
According to the official press release (via Inverse) from WEBTOON, here’s everything you need to know about the new Trek series coming to the fan-favorite vertical scroll platform:
Set within the legendary universe fans know and love, Stargazers and Recollection include all-new canon adventures that build on Star Trek series like Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, by focusing on new characters and locations unique to this platform. As standalone series, they also invite a new generation of fans to experience the next frontier of the franchise’s 60-year legacy in WEBTOON’s vertical-scroll webcomic format.
Stargazers, written by Jarrett Melendez and illustrated by Kisai Entertainment, is a 40-episode series set aboard Deep Space 9 and centered on entirely new characters navigating early adulthood, friendship, and YA-style romance in the Franchise’s 24th-century era. At the center of the Stargazers’ story is Leon, an “optimistic young man fresh out of school, spending his days with his close-knit group of friends, including Churi, a brilliant Bajoran inventor, and his loyal dog Alfie.” His childhood friend Syrrik, meanwhile, is laser-focused on Starfleet Academy and driven by his demanding father’s expectations. After a falling out pushes the two apart, they’re drawn back together in unexpected ways, navigating a complicated, evolving romance while getting entangled in a station-wide animal smuggling conspiracy and preparing for a community talent show.
The second series, Recollection, written by veteran Trek comics writer Sam Maggs, takes a darker, mystery-driven approach. It’s Voyager-inspired and follows a young woman who awakens with no memory of who she is — only to discover six other passengers share the same fate.
Read the official synopsis below:
A young woman awakens with no memory of who she is or how she got there, only to discover six other passengers share the same fate. With no clear answers and little trust between them, the group turns to the ship’s enigmatic holopilot, JAID, who appears to be withholding critical information.
Their search for the truth leads them to a remote space outpost, where the protagonist encounters a Vulcan who seems to recognize her—and provides a device that unlocks fragments of her memories, but only in fleeting moments. As tensions rise and alliances form under pressure, the group uncovers a shocking reality: most of them are among the Federation’s most wanted, bound for a reeducation facility.
As identities are revealed and loyalties tested, the crew must decide who they are—and who they’re willing to become.
Coming in 2026
According to WEBTOON, both series are designed as standalone entry points, meaning no deep Trek knowledge is required. As described by the official materials, the series builds on the legacy of DS9 and Voyager while focusing on new characters and locations unique to the platform, inviting a new generation of fans to experience the franchise’s 60-year legacy in WEBTOON’s vertical-scroll format.
Stargazers launches on WEBTOON on May 17. Recollection follows later in 2026.
