SECRET LADY artist announces indefinite hiatus due to health

Secret Lady will go on a long-term break as artist Banana prioritizes her health.

On June 20, Banana, artist of the manhwa adaptation Secret Lady, shared a heartfelt message with fans in the comment section of Chapter 124. She began by greeting readers and then revealed she had recently been diagnosed with liver cancer caused by hepatitis. Due to the severity of her condition, she announced a long hiatus, explaining that she could no longer keep up with the demands of a regular production schedule.

Banana expressed her gratitude to the CARROTOON staff for their understanding and support, and said she made the difficult decision with the intention of “finishing the work well without quality.” She asked readers for their patience and understanding as she focused on healing.

The next day, CARROTOON released an official notice, confirming the hiatus and citing Banana’s health as the reason. The statement emphasized the importance of her recovery and explained that the return date would be announced once she is well enough to resume. CARROTOON also thanked fans for their ongoing support and encouraged them to send Banana messages of encouragement.

Fans responded with an outpouring of sympathy, offering heartfelt wishes for her recovery and promising to wait as long as it takes for her return.

Adapted from a novel by Anngato, Secret Lady has garnered more than 3.1 million views and nearly 320,000 likes on Tapas. The English version first launched on December 7, 2021, and has earned a devoted fan base thanks to its compelling story and beautiful artwork.
