A Bona Fide Killer is headed to the small screen.

The hit webtoon A Bona Fide Killer is officially in the works for a live-action K-Drama adaptation. The production is currently eyeing Gong Hyojin and Jung Junwon for the lead roles. Both actors have reportedly received offers and are “positively reviewing” them, though neither has confirmed their participation.

Gong Hyojin, often dubbed the Queen of Rom-Coms, is beloved for her roles in The Greatest Love (2011), Master’s Sun (2013), and When the Camellia Blooms (2019), the last of which earned her a Grand Prize award for her performance. Most recently, she starred in Netflix’s When the Stars Gossip as Eve Kim.

Jung Junwon recently appeared as Goo Dowon in Resident Playbook, a spin-off of the acclaimed Hospital Playlist. His past roles include Hush (2020) and My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2 (2019), with the latter earning him a nomination for Best New Actor at the KBS Drama Awards.

Created by writer YOON and artist GUM, A Bona Fide Killer follows Yu Bona, a seemingly average mom returning from maternity leave to her corporate job at Durumi Electronics. But her return isn’t to a desk—she’s back in action as the legendary assassin Kingfisher. As she balances deadly missions and family life, things get complicated when her husband Taesung, a journalist, starts investigating Kingfisher’s reappearance.

The webtoon launched in April 2022 and is currently in its third season on Tapas, with over 566,000 views and 73,000 likes. The adaptation will mark another exciting addition to the growing trend of webtoon-to-screen stories.
