Comedy also draws creators of all kinds—from wide-eyed newbies to silver fox pros like Jim Carrey. But not all titles are created equal. Some rise to legendary status, while others are better left in bed rot. Here are five must-read webtoons that stand out from the crowd.

If there were a gold standard for comedy webtoons, The Sound of Your Heart would be it. From the absurdity of Korea’s mandatory military service to a ghost haunting your brother’s cramped apartment, Cho Seok—also romanized as Jo Seok—somehow captures the (almost) everyday chaos of life in Korea.
This webtoon was such a massive hit that it ran continuously from September 2006 to July 2020—an impressive 14-year streak without a single hiatus. Its popularity even earned it a live-action Netflix adaptation of the same name, which received rave reviews from both critics and fans!
2. Blue Chair
The series that started it all in the West—the OG of OGs. One of the many webtoons by Shen, this slice-of-life and hot-take series dives into Shen’s personal experiences, beliefs, and everyday struggles.
While it shares a similar comedic style to Sarah’s Scribbles, Shen’s work stands out by turning abstract concepts, like anxiety, procrastination, or societal pressure, into quirky, anime-level characters. These personified ideas often “bully” Shen, resulting in surprising, funny, and surprisingly deep moments of character growth. Each episode is a mix of humor and heart, guaranteed to bring both laughs and a sense of “wow, I feel that.”
3. Sarah’s Scribbles
Ever wondered what it’s like to be an introvert, or the kind of daily pain women often endure? According to Sarah’s Scribbles, it sucks. A lot.
This panel comic follows Sarah (obviously) as she navigates the chaos that is everyday life—aka an introvert’s personal hell. From social awkwardness to unrealistic beauty standards, Sarah finds herself constantly pushed outside her comfort zone (read: her bed). With each comic, she exaggerates relatable situations in hilarious ways, offering insight not just into the introverted mindset but also into the everyday struggles many women in America face.
4. 10th Dimension Boys
Follow a chaotic group of (presumably 10th-dimension) boys as they stumble through a K-Drama-worthy life full of potty humor and absurdity. Created by Cutbu, this unforgettable series ran from June 30, 2014, to March 19, 2015, delivering 117 episodes of wild, laugh-out-loud moments.
Whether it’s the main character smacking his door’s literal cheeks like he’s on a honey pack just to get inside, or accidentally pooping his pants while confessing to his crush, Cutbu pushes the limits of comedy in the best—and weirdest—ways possible.
5. Scoob and Shag
Scoob and Shag, created by Misterie Krew and first published on August 3, 2018, reimagines the beloved Scooby-Doo gang in a chaotic parody universe. It takes Scooby’s bizarre sentience and Shaggy’s stoner energy to absurd new heights.
With unforgettable lines like “RON’T BE A RITTLE RITCH, RAGGY,” the series doesn’t just lean into the ridiculous—it powerbombs you into a world of thick-thighed madness and unpredictable humor. And yet, it all somehow feels like the kind of nonsense the Mystery Inc. crew could totally stumble into.
At one point, Misterie Krew even turned an eBay listing into an episode—and made it hilarious. That level of creativity alone deserves a read. If this doesn’t get a chuckle out of you, comedy might just not be your thing.
No matter your walk of life, comedy is the bridge that brings everyone together. From the rich to the poor, the intellectual to the downright clueless, laughter connects us all.
