Inklore has revealed the stunning cover for Volume 2 of Under the Oak Tree, the novel by Suji Kim. Illustrated by Yuumei, the new cover features heroine Maxi with her iconic fiery red hair adorned with delicate blue flowers. Gold accents embellish her dress, trailing up her sleeve and into the shimmering foil that lines the cover’s edge. While Volume 1 showcased a green color scheme, Volume 2 embraces a cool blue palette.
Like its predecessor, the second volume includes a sprayed edge quote—“Oh, I shall love thee until my dying breath”—as well as a ribbon bookmark, blue foil stamping on the cover, and full-color patterned endpapers. This edition also features an updated translation.
Volume 1 made history as the first Korean novel to appear on the New York Times Best Seller List for Hardcover Fiction, debuting at #7. It also ranked #42 on USA Today’s Bestselling Book List. Inklore is also publishing the print edition of the popular webcomic adaptation. For our thoughts on both versions, check out K-Comics Beat’s reviews.
Winner of the Romance Webnovel Award from RIDI in both 2020 and 2023, Under the Oak Tree follows Maximilian Croyso, the reclusive daughter of Duke Croyso. After enduring years of emotional and physical abuse, Maxi is forced into marriage with the seemingly lowborn knight Riftan Calypse. Following a disastrous wedding night, Riftan vanishes to fight in a war—only to return three years later. Convinced he intends to divorce her, Maxi is stunned when he instead whisks her away to his home and vows to give her the life she deserves.
Volume 2 is currently available for preorder and will launch in the fall. Both the novel and webcomic are available exclusively on Manta, with the novel recently adding a new side story.
