KPop Demon Hunters has been nominated for two Academy Awards following a year of unprecedented success for a Netflix original movie.

On Thursday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the full list of nominations for the 98th Oscars, naming KPop Demon Hunters in two categories: Animated Feature Film and Music (Original Song) for “Golden,” music and lyrics by EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seon, and Teddy Park.

Co-directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and produced by Michelle L.M. WongKPop Demon Hunters has already racked up a number of accolades, including two Golden Globes wins and five Grammy nominations. It’s the most-streamed film in Netflix history and has generated toys, books, a massive fandom, and a growing cosplay community.

The movie follows K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, a trio that performs pop hits by day and fights demons by night to protect the world against their attempted takeover. Just before they seal the protective honmoon forever, the demon Jinu forms a rival boy band, Saja Boys, to win over HUNTR/X fans and destabilize the honmoon.

The 98th annual Academy Awards will be presented at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 15.
