Webtoon has announced significantly expanded creator tools hitting the platform in 2026. Following the announcement, Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Global Webtoon, Yongsoo Kim, spoke with The Beat about what’s to come and how the platform is centering creators in its content strategy.
“Creators are the heart of Webtoon, and supporting them is core to our business and mission. And our goal is to give Creators an opportunity they can’t find anywhere else,” Kim told The Beat‘s Ollie Kaplan.
“We want to be the best place in the world for Creators to connect with millions of readers, build a global audience, and make money from their work. That means offering a variety of monetization options for every kind of Creator, and offering programs that help Creators feel seen, supported, and empowered to build the careers they dream about,” Kim continued.
He added, “We’re really excited about these programs, each of which is designed to create more connection points between our teams and Creators. Creating comics takes a lot of effort and resilience, and people spend a lot of time alone. That’s why a big part of these programs is bringing people together.”
