On September 8, 2025, WEBTOON announced the genre finalists in the ongoing WEBTOON Legends contest through their official X/Twitter accounts. The contest, which has been running since March, invited users to submit a series with at least 3–4 episodes to one of four categories: Most Epic (Action/Fantasy), Most Feels (Romance/Drama), Most Gripping (Horror/Thriller/Mystery/Supernatural), and Most Laughs (Comedy/Slice of Life). Submissions officially closed on May 16, following a one-day grace period for creators.
On June 23, WEBTOON revealed the shortlist of 40 series. With a $1 million prize pool at stake—including $150,000 for the grand prize winner and $5,500 each for 24 fifth-place runners-up—the competition has been intense. From that pool of 40, WEBTOON has now narrowed the field down to just 12 finalists across the four categories.
