Seven Seas Entertainment paused its Wonderful Wednesday weekly announcements to gear up for a slew of new licenses for Anime NYC.
On August 22, the publisher revealed 19 new licenses, including several audiobook adaptations of their Chinese novels, one webcomic license, and a highly anticipated danmei series. Without further ado, let’s dive right in.
Panguan: The Twelfth Gate
Written by Mu Su Li (Three Hundred Years of Longing and Copper Coins), Panguan: The Twelfth Gate tells the story of Wen Shi, a thousand-year-old panguan who has been reborn 12 times. Wen Shi specializes in puppetry, but he’s also missing parts of his soul and memories. When he accidentally summons a sickly tenant named Xie Wen—who may or may not be the founder of panguan—Wen Shi chooses to let him tag along as they embark on adventures and uncover Wen Shi’s past.
The first volume will release in print and digital formats in September 2026.
How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game
Created by KimYomYum, SINcere, SUCH, and KD, How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game debuted on December 28, 2023, and reached Chapter 75 on July 12 before going on hiatus. Seven Seas provided the following synopsis:
The Murderer of Pfatzgraff Manor is a brand-new horror game from a popular developer that was sure to be a huge hit. Unfortunately, despite how beautifully designed the games is, it’s been deemed bad because it’s just too difficult to beat! Playing as Adrian–a young man who just so happens to be the devil’s reincarnation–the goal is to kill as many people as possible to satisfy Lilith’s Curse. But one night, after playing for as long as possible, a player wakes up inside the game world! Not only that, but they’ve become Hilda, one of Adrian’s maids and potential targets. Can Hilda outwit the literal devil, or will this horror game become her grave?

Audiobooks of four Chinese novels
The publisher also announced audiobook adaptations for three danmei and one Chinese fantasy novel. Fans can experience—or re-experience—the joys of Legend of Exorcism, Astrolabe Rebirth, Riverbay Road Men’s Dormitory, and Love Between Fairy and Devil. Release windows and narrators have not yet been revealed, but the new format will provide fans with an accessible way to enjoy their favorite stories.
