KPOP DEMON HUNTERS is Netflix’s most-watched original animated movie

We love Huntr/x and the Saja Boys—and apparently, so does the whole world.

Netflix revealed that KPop Demon Hunters is now the most-watched original animated movie. The film has racked up more than 158 million views, and the number keeps climbing. With its rich animation, humor, and fantastical storytelling, the animated feature has captured fans’ hearts worldwide. Just a few weeks ago, Netflix reported the movie had made history by reaching a new viewing peak weeks after its debut.

Not only is the movie breaking records, but its soundtrack is also dominating the music charts. “Golden,” the anthem from K-Pop queens Huntr/x, claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200, while the Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” has also been making waves on the same chart.

The film’s massive popularity has even sparked a theatrical release—something fans have been calling for since its Netflix debut—with a special sing-along version hitting theaters soon.

KPop Demon Hunters has been one of the hottest topics of the past few months. The film is the brainchild of Maggie Kang, who set out to create a love letter to Korean culture that embraced everything from K-Pop to Korean mythology. Kang teamed up with Chris Appelhans as co-director, and together with screenwriters Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, brought KPop Demon Hunters to life.

Blending music and fantasy, the story follows a trio of K-Pop superstars named Huntr/x whose voices can create a protective shield called the Honmoon. This mystical barrier keeps demons, controlled by the evil Gwi-Ma, from escaping the underworld and wreaking havoc. Huntr/x have kept the demons at bay so far, but their next mission, creating the Golden Honmoon, proves even more challenging when a demon boy band called the Saja Boys emerges, stealing fans’ hearts (and souls).
