King’s Maker creators Haga and Kang Jiyoung to attend Anime NYC 2025 as Guests of Honor.

Anime NYC is bringing the creators of the acclaimed BL fantasy series King’s Maker and its sequel Triple Crown, to this year’s convention. Writer Haga and illustrator Kang Jiyoung will appear as Guests of Honor on Saturday, August 23, much to the excitement of fans. Additional programming details will be announced soon.

Originally launched on Tappytoon, King’s Maker quickly rose in popularity thanks to its compelling mix of political intrigue and emotional depth. The story follows Wolfgang Goldenleonard, a prince who grew up on the streets hiding his identity. After returning to the palace, he meets Shin Soohyuk, a brilliant strategist with a plan to challenge the corrupt monarchy. Together, they work to overthrow the regime in a slow-burn romance layered with tension, trust, and trauma.

In King’s Maker: Triple Crown, the pair faces new threats after ascending to power. Although Wolfgang and Soohyuk are finally in a position of leadership, peace remains fleeting as rebellion brews once again. While Wolfgang’s feelings are clear, Soohyuk must confront the wounds of his past.

Haga, who pens the story, previously authored For the Sake of Sita and Nessun Dorma. Her work gained early recognition when For the Sake of Sita reached the quarterfinals of a 2013 webtoon competition. She now teaches at Seoul Webtoon Academy.

Kang Jiyoung debuted with Oh My God!, which earned the Grand Prize in the University Comics Grand Prix in 2013, and currently mentors emerging creators at several institutions.

King’s Maker and King’s Maker: Triple Crown are both available on Tappytoon, while Lezhin hosts the original series. Inklore will publish the print edition of King’s Maker Vol. 1 on August 26, 2025, collecting the first 12 chapters.

Anime NYC will take place from August 21 to 25, 2025, at the Javits Center in New York City.
