OMNISCIENT READER drops more stills for Yoo Sangah, Jung Heewon, Lee Jihye, and more

Omniscient Reader viewers, meet the rest of the cast of the highly anticipated film adaptation.

Lotte Entertainment has released more stills showcasing the characters viewers will meet when the film premieres next month. Chae Soobin, who plays Yoo Sangah—Kim Dokja’s coworker—appears shocked to find herself in a world likely pulled straight from fiction. Shin Seungho, cast as Lee Hyunsung, looks solemn and concerned as he stares at Kim Dokja. Nana, portraying Jung Heewon, appears fierce while wielding her weapon. BLACKPINK’s Jisoo makes her film debut as Lee Jihye, a high school companion to Yoo Joonghyuk, and remains calm as she fights with a gun. Rounding out the cast is Kwon Eunseong as Lee Gilyoung, whose special bond with insects could become vital to the group’s survival.

In a translation by Soompi, Chae said that her character made “the most realistic choices.” She admitted those choices could make Yoo Sangah seem cold and explained that she worked hard to avoid that impression. Shin commented that his character was someone “driven by pure adrenaline,” which aligns with Lee Hyunsung’s identity as a soldier.

As one of the strong fighters in Omniscient Reader, Nana shared that she took on many action scenes and wire sequences, describing the experience as exciting. She added that Jung Heewon “is a character who shows off fast and dynamic action.” Jisoo expressed her desire to portray Lee Jihye as someone who can handle “ever-changing situations well and quickly understands what’s going on with good judgment.” One of the final stills of Kwon shows him pointing his fingers at his temples like antennae; he explained that this was a detail he developed with the director.

Lotte Entertainment previously released stills of lead characters Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk, portrayed by Ahn Hyoseop and Lee Minho, respectively.

Directed by Kim Byung-woo and produced by Won Dong-yun under Realies Pictures, Omniscient Reader is the first in a planned five-film adaptation. Based on the massively popular webnovel Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint by writing duo singNsong, the story follows Kim Dokja, an ordinary office worker who has read the webnovel Three Ways to Survive an Apocalypse for 10 years. After reading the final chapter, he receives a message from the author, and then his world collapses as TWSA becomes reality. As the only person who knows how the story ends, Kim Dokja must now do everything he can to survive.

Omniscient Reader premieres in Korean theaters this July.
