OMNISCIENT READER unleashes new thrilling trailer

A new trailer for Omniscient Reader promises action, thrill, and high-stakes survival.

The full trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint—renamed Omniscient Reader—opens with two sides charging toward each other on a wrecked bridge. It quickly cuts to another intense battle, this time in a subway car. Viewers also get a first glimpse of the goblin who delivers deadly scenarios that people must complete to survive. The first challenge? For the passengers on the train: kill one living life form.

Kim Dokja, the story’s protagonist, meets the lead character of the webnovel he’s been reading and pretends he can foresee the future to convince Yoo Joonghyuk to ally with him. But the plan fails, and Dokja plummets into the ocean while cursing the man he once admired.

The live-action adaptation also unveiled a set of striking character visuals—each one perfectly imposing, except for the sweet-faced Lee Gilyoung. Ahn Hyoseop takes on the role of Kim Dokja, the lone reader of a decade-long serialized webnovel who becomes the only person who knows how the world will end. Lee Minho portrays Yoo Joonghyuk, a relentless fighter with one goal: uncovering why the world collapsed.

Chae Soobin plays Yoo Sangah, Kim Dokja’s coworker, who joins him on the subway when their world turns into the novel’s. Together, they team up with soldier Lee Hyunsung—played by Shin Seungho—who evolves into a steadfast protector. They also rescue Lee Gilyoung, a boy who communicates with insects, played by Kwon Eunseong. Along the way, they meet Jung Heewon, portrayed by Nana, a justice-driven woman who defends the weak without hesitation. BLACKPINK’s Jisoo rounds out the cast as Lee Jihye, Yoo Joonghyuk’s loyal high school-aged companion.

Omniscient Reader is planned as a five-film series. Realies Pictures is producing the first installment, with Kim Byun Woo directing and Won Dong-yun producing. Won addressed fan concerns about changes to the source material, emphasizing that the adjustments were necessary to preserve the story’s core themes and characters. He also noted that he had shared the screenplay with creators singNsong, who “understood everything,” and promised the film would stay true to the heart of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.

The original webnovel follows office worker Kim Dokja, the sole reader of Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse for a full decade. Just as he finishes the story, the author sends him the completed manuscript—just in time for the world around him to begin transforming into the novel itself. Though Kim Dokja knows how the story ends, surviving its apocalyptic reality may be far more difficult than expected.

Omniscient Reader premieres in theaters in July 2025. Both the webnovel and webcomic have been licensed for English print release by Ize Press.
