Charge Me Up is getting a drama adaptation.
According to JTBC News, the webnovel Charge Me Up will be adapted into a drama series. The production team has already cast the two leads: Chae Soobin will star as the female lead, and Kim Youngkwang will play the male lead. Park Soowon will direct the series, which is slated for release on a global OTT platform. A premiere date has yet to be announced.
Charge Me Up is a fantasy romance webnovel about Baek Horang, a man whose artificial heart battery is running out. His only hope lies in Na Bobae, a woman who literally holds the power of electricity.
Chae Soobin made her film debut in My Dictator (2014) and gained recognition in the youth series Cheer Up! (2015), which earned her Best New Actress awards at both the KBS Drama Awards and the APAN Star Awards. Her popularity rose after her performance in Love in the Moonlight (2016), which earned her an Excellence Award. She later won another Excellence Award for The Rebel (2017) and, most recently, received the Excellence Award for Actress in a Miniseries for When the Phone Rings (2024).
Kim Youngkwang began his acting career in 2008 with the drama Worlds Within. He appeared in the film Runway Cop (2012) and won Best New Actor for On Your Wedding Day at the 2018 Blue Dragon Film Awards. In 2019, he earned a Top Excellence Award nomination for The Secret Life of My Secretary. As a model, Kim made history as the first Asian to walk the runway for Dior Homme.
