LAFTEL announces bloody animation adaptation of RED FOX

A twisted love story about a fox seeking to understand what "love" means.

While it may be tough for international viewers to stream Red Fox, at least it won’t be as hard—or as gruesome—as having your liver eaten.

LAFTEL, the streaming platform branching out into webcomic adaptations, has just released a chilling teaser for its upcoming horror-romance series Red Fox. The trailer leans into a motion comic style, with minimal animation but maximum mood. It opens with a harrowing image: the titular fox seizing a woman, his fingers slick with blood. It’s a stark, unsettling start that sets the tone for what’s to come.

Due to its graphic content, the teaser is restricted to YouTube. Viewers beware—this isn’t your average supernatural romance.

In the lead-up to Red Fox’s May 19 premiere, LAFTEL is building anticipation with a series of reveals, including an original soundtrack PV, a preview of the first episode, and an interview with creator HAMA. The horror-romance adaptation will debut with three episodes and continue releasing in batches of three every Monday.

Set in the fictional country of Ibana, Red Fox follows a terrifying fox demon who shapeshifts and preys on humans, consuming their livers. One day, the immortal fox encounters a mother who sacrifices herself to protect her daughter. The act confounds the fox, who has long been fascinated by the human concept of “love.” Intrigued, he begins to watch over the orphaned girl, Sana, sparking a story that’s as haunting as it is poignant.

Written and illustrated by HAMA, Red Fox originally ran for 154 episodes and 13 side stories. While it was previously available in English on Tappytoon, the series has since been removed from the platform’s library. Readers who purchased it during its licensing window retain access, but the webcomic is currently unavailable on any other English-language platforms. A sequel by HAMA exists but remains unlicensed as well.

Red Fox will premiere exclusively on LAFTEL in Korea on May 19. At this time, there are no confirmed plans for an international release.
