The Remarried Empress has uncovered the reason behind the empress’s second marriage.
According to Naver, the live-action drama adaptation of The Remarried Empress has offered the role of Rashta to Lee Se-young. Lee joins Shin Min-ah, Lee Jong-suk, and Ju Ji-hoon. Shin will play the titular character, Navier, while Lee will portray Heinrich Alex Laszlo, the emperor of the Western Empire who marries Navier later in the story. Ju, known for his portrayal of Baek Gang-hyeok in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, will play Sovieshu, the emperor of the Eastern Empire who betrays and divorces Navier.
Studio N, a subsidiary of Webtoon Entertainment Inc. will produce the drama while Jo Soo-won will direct.
Lee Se-young starred as the younger version of Choi Keum-young in the critically acclaimed drama Jewel in the Palace and gained popularity in The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop. She earned nominations for the 2021 drama The Red Sleeve, including “Best Actress for Television” at the Baeksang Arts Awards. Lee also won the “Excellence Award” at the Korea Drama Awards for The Crowned Clown and took home the Top Excellence Award for an Actress in a Miniseries at the MBC Drama Awards for her portrayal of Park Yeon-woo in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.
Written by Alphatart, The Remarried Empress was adapted into a webcomic with SUMPUL as the artist. The story follows Navier Ellie Trovi, an empress in every sense. Her only flaw is her devotion to her husband, Sovieshu, who betrays her by returning home with Rashta, a runaway slave, and demands a divorce. Determined to retain her title as empress, Navier agrees to the divorce…and promptly remarries the emperor of the Western Kingdom, Heinrich.
The Remarried Empress is available to read digitally on WEBTOON. The webtoon is also available in print by Yen Press with the ninth volume released on January 21, 2025.
