The Second Male Lead is Actually a Girl returned for Season 2 on February 12, 2025, and fans immediately noticed a change.
In Season 1, the series featured artwork by E ang E, but the February chapters of Season 2 introduced a new artist, OROSHI. While it’s not uncommon for webcomics to switch artists mid-series, what stands out is the largely positive fan reaction.
On the OtomeIsekai subreddit, user almostelm shared their thoughts, writing, “I was so confused at first because the character design is so different, but honestly, I’m not mad about it. Rose/Rozenta was, and will always be, a hottie.” Other readers chimed in, with ichibankuma exclaiming, “Holy upgrade,” and Economy_Pass5452 adding, “Woah, the art went from cute to hot 🔥.”
The Second Male Lead is Actually a Girl follows Rosa Veronica, or Rozenta, as she navigates life under the oppressive rule of the Duke of Estella. As the sole heir to the Estella estate, Rozenta plays the role of a supporting male character from a novel Rosa read in her previous life. However, she quickly realizes that the male and female leads aren’t quite as she remembered. Once a mere background character, Rozenta finds herself deeply entangled in the story, forming friendships with Prince Theodore and Vivian. But happiness is short-lived, with mysterious events unfolding around the Saintess.
Season 1 concluded on September 25, 2025. To kick off Season 2, Pocket Comics released three new episodes on February 12, 2025.
