Bomtoon reveals winners of the 2024 Awards Ceremony

Bomtoon, an app for webcomics and novels featuring Boys’ Love, Girls’ Love, romance, and more, hosts an annual awards ceremony to recognize stand-out titles. While Bomtoon operates only in other Asian countries, fans can read many of its translated works on platforms like Lezhin.

Fans started voting on December 8, 2024, and Bomtoon announced the winners on January 7, 2025. Here are the winners:

Best New Webtoon

Paws and Claws, originally write by Marin Code and adapted into a webcomic by with writer Ilju and artist Duhaem, is an adorable webcomic featuring a shapeshifter, specifically a dog shifter. Gyeon Heeseong was forced to be a drug runner for a gambling ring after the other dog shifters abandon him. Unfortunately, during his final job, he transforms into his real form which is a palm-sized white fluff ball, and is taken in by Yoon Chi-young, otherwise known as Savage Fang.

Paws and Claws is a recent work launched on Lezhin.

Best Short Story

엎질러진 피 which roughly translates to Spilled Blood is a spin-off of Save the Dae and focuses on Goo Yoonwon’s older brother, Goo Yoonhyeok and his very messy relationship with his stepbrother.

There is currently no official English translation of Spilled Blood.

Best Romance

Originally written as a webnovel by Pinca, In the Doghouse was adapted into a webcomic with Jusang helming the illustration as the artist. The story contains BDSM, romance, and drama and follows Courtney Devon who is the daughter of the debt-riddled Devon family. On the brink of bankruptcy, the Devon family has to find some way to drag themselves out of this hole and a miracle comes in the form of His Royal Highness the crown prince who has chosen Courtney to be his crown princess. At first, the crown prince seems normal but he hides a darker side that he only shows Courtney.

In the Doghouse is in a different doghouse now: specifically the Lezhin house.

Best Webnovel

공작 형제의 오메가 which roughly translates to The Duke Brothers’ Omega, written by Sable. The series released on April 4, 2024. The BL webnovel appears to be about duke brothers who seem quite insistent on having their way with their omega.

Best BL

Low Tide in Twilight is an omegaverse BL written and illustrated by euja. This webcomic isn’t for the faint of heart (TW: for abuse) and weaves a complex story with messy feelings and an even messier relationship. The story follows Kim Euihyun who is depressed and can see nothing but a gaping darkness in front of him. Holding the one thing that is keeping him alive, Euihyun wades into the ocean. Just before it’s too late, a gangster by the name of Yoo Taeju pulls him out and offers him things that could help him out of his crisis–except what he’s asking for in return may be something that Euihyun cannot afford to give.

Best Couple

Ma jeung ji‘s Dawn of the Dragon is a sweet fantasy story about a dragon shapeshifter and the heir to a corporation. Yoo Taehyuk, said heir, seems to have everything going for him. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worst when the dragon, the patron deity of the Yoo family, wishes to leave the family to look for his mate after sensing that his mate has reincarnated. Taehyuk’s family is about to have his sister announce herself as the dragon’s mate but Taehyuk, ever the businessman, chooses to go in her stead in the hopes that he can convince the dragon to stay.
