KPOP DEMON HUNTERS wins two Golden Globes

HUNTR/X don't quit

-

KPop Demon Hunters won two Golden Globes on Sunday night, taking home trophies for the majority of its nominated categories and further amassing critical reception for most-streamed movie in Netflix’s history.

KPop Demon Hunters, co-directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, won 2026 Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture – Animated and Best Original Song. It received the latter for “Golden,” the hit single written by Ejae and Mark Sonnenblick, and performed by the fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X (Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami).

It lost its third nominated category, Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, to Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. (Both films made The Beat‘s Best Movies of 2025.)

Every year, the Golden Globes serve as a potential indicator for films that might be recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the annual Academy Awards. The 2026 Oscar nominees will be announced on January 22, and it’s reasonable to expect that KPop Demon Hunters will receive recognition for its achievements in animation and music. “Golden” has already been shortlisted for Best Original Song.

In addition to taking home two Golden Globes, KPop Demon Hunters has also received multiple critics’ choice awards and other accolades. The film is nominated for five Grammy Awards and 10 Annie Awards, both of which will be announced later this year.
