HYBE’s latest original story project is spreading its wings beyond Korea. The company announced that SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS, the fantasy webtoon created in collaboration with rising K-Pop group ILLIT, is launching in six new regions with localized translations.

The series will debut in the U.S., Taiwan, and Thailand on October 20, followed by Japan and Indonesia on October 21. A French-language release is set to follow in November, marking a significant step in HYBE’s continued push to expand its story-based IP to global audiences.

A Magical Twist on ILLIT’s Signature Energy

SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS is a high school fantasy webtoon centered on five “magical girls” inspired by the members of ILLIT. The series reflects the group’s playful, confident, and youthful charm—traits that have defined their meteoric rise in K-Pop. Since its Korean premiere on August 4, the webtoon has earned enthusiastic fan responses and quickly climbed to No. 3 on NAVER WEBTOON’s trending chart, sparking widespread demand for official translations.

From DARK MOON to SUMMER MOON

HYBE credits the fast-tracked global rollout to the passionate support of both readers and ILLIT fans. “We believe the success of previous HYBE original stories—including the DARK MOON series, which surpassed 200 million views worldwide—has fueled anticipation for SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS,” a HYBE spokesperson said. “We will continue to leverage the synergy between our artists and our content expertise to deliver immersive, story-driven entertainment experiences.”

Following the success of DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR (starring ENHYPEN) and 7FATES: CHAKHO (inspired by BTS), SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS continues HYBE’s strategy of intertwining K-Pop storytelling with webtoon and webnovel formats. The approach has become a hallmark of the company’s IP strategy—creating transmedia experiences that let fans connect with their favorite artists through both music and narrative.

With SUMMER MOON: THE QUPRIDS now expanding across six regions, ILLIT’s universe of magic, friendship, and self-discovery is poised to reach a whole new wave of global readers.
