HUNTR/X makes surprise debut on SNL during KPOP DEMON HUNTERS sketch

Saturday Night Live brought the world of KPop Demon Hunters to late-night television with a sketch featuring a surprise appearance from the singers behind the animated film’s hit soundtrack.

The sketch centers on four friends—including host Bad Bunny—enjoying brunch at a trendy restaurant. Bad Bunny’s character, Thomas, repeatedly proclaims his love for KPop Demon Hunters, joking that it’s “actually not for kids. It’s for smart adults.” Highlighting the movie’s signature music, he says, “In KPop Demon Hunters, songs are not just songs. They are weapons. What else is gonna save you from demons, you idiot?”

The brunch is interrupted by Bowen Yang, who appears as a demon from the film, possessing Sarah Sherman while performing the hit song “Soda Pop.” Fortunately, HUNTR/X—comprised of EJAE, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna—are on hand to vanquish the demon with their track “Golden,” marking their first-ever live performance, though in abbreviated form.

Since the release of Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters in June, the film and its soundtrack have taken the world by storm, topping the Billboard Soundtracks chart and sparking viral challenges like the #KPopNoodleChallenge. HUNTR/Xs SNL debut is a sign of the franchise’s growing influence in both music and pop culture.
