Is another KPop Demon Hunters story on the horizon?
A Film Ratings notice posted on September 17 listed a KPop Demon Hunters short film reviewed and rated by the Classification and Rating Administration. The film, reportedly titled Debut: A KPOP Demon Hunters Story, carries a PG rating for “some action/violence and scary images.” Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film. Neither Sony nor the directors have announced the short film.

Fans already have their theories about the short, with the most popular being a Huntr/x prequel. It’s unclear whether the short film is the reported sequel in development or an entirely different project.
The hype around KPop Demon Hunters hasn’t slowed since its explosive Netflix debut in June. It has become the most-watched original movie of all time, amassing 314 million views as of this article’s writing. The soundtrack has dominated the charts, becoming the first soundtrack this year to reach the top of the Billboard 200. “Golden,” written by EJAE, has also held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for five consecutive weeks.
Little is known about the demon hunters except that their voices create a barrier called the Honmoon, which prevents demons from infiltrating the human world. The current generation’s demon hunters are a K-Pop trio called HUNTR/X, composed of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. Rumi lost her mother, a demon hunter, at a young age and was raised by Celine, another former hunter. The three girls share a close friendship that fans hope to see explored further.
Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans have remained tight-lipped about what a sequel would look like, so fans will have to keep rewatching KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix for now.
