MAMAMOO’s Solar is stepping onto the big screen for the first time in her career with the upcoming horror film The Cursed (literal title: Ghost).
The singer and actress announced the news on Instagram, sharing a poster of the film with the caption:
“The Cursed opens in theaters on September 17th!!! Horror lovers, gather around!!! Join me for my first big-screen debut👊🏻”
A newly released 30-second trailer teases the unsettling tone of the film, showing blood-like liquid flowing from a sink faucet, a woman overtaken by her own reflection, and a series of eerie supernatural encounters.
Produced by Jerry Good Company and directed by Hong Won-ki, The Cursed explores the dark world of the gwisi—a ghost market said to appear when a “fox window” opens. The star-studded cast includes Moon Chae-won, Yoo Jae-myung, Seo Young-hee, Won Hyun-joon, Chae Sun-woo, Bae Su-min, Seo Ji-soo, Son Juyeon, Ngoe Xoan, and Emma Le.
Solar, who debuted as leader and vocalist of K-Pop girl group MAMAMOO in 2014 alongside Moonbyul, Hwasa, and Wheein, has been expanding her artistic range. While this marks her feature film debut, she previously took the stage in 2022’s musical Mata Hari.
The Cursed opens in theaters in Korea on September 17, 2025.
