Your Letter is coming to theaters soon.
The animated film adaptation of the heartwarming webcomic series Your Letter has released its first teaser video. Studio N and Studio Lico produced and animated the film, with Kim Yonghwan directing. The movie premieres in Korea on October 1. An international release date has yet to be announced. AKMU’s Lee Su-hyun will make her voice acting debut as Sori.
Written and illustrated by Hyeon A Cho, Your Letter follows a middle schooler named Sori, whose kindness is treated as a flaw at her school. After defending the vulnerable, she becomes the bullies’ latest target. Even after transferring to a new school, she can’t escape cruelty. Just as it seems history will repeat itself, Sori discovers a mysterious letter that begins a scavenger hunt leading to a hidden world beneath her school. The hunt brings her comfort and camaraderie with her unseen correspondent—but who are they? Could it be the boy who practices archery on the rooftop?
Cho debuted in 2014 with the short story series Water Tank and followed it in 2015 with Lunar New Year’s Eve. Your Letter earned the Today’s Our Comics Award and the China Jinlong Award for Foreign Comics in 2019.
The story runs only 12 chapters, published from August 11 to October 27, 2018, on Naver WEBTOON. Readers can enjoy Your Letter digitally on WEBTOON, while the print edition—licensed by Ize Press—was released on July 23, 2024.
