Ahn Hyoseop says working with Lee Minho in ORV was a surreal dream come true

Ahn Hyoseop may be making waves internationally for voicing Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters, but the rising actor says nothing compares to starring alongside his real-life idol Lee Minho in the action fantasy film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy.

Speaking at a press event in Singapore on July 29, Ahn called the experience “surreal,” revealing he grew up watching Lee’s dramas and never imagined he’d one day share the screen with him. “Like Dokja, I look up to Minho hyung,” he said, referencing his character Kim Dokja, an office worker thrust into the apocalyptic world of his favorite web novel.

The film adapts the popular Korean web novel Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint by singNsong and stars Lee Minho as Yu Jung-hyuk, the novel’s stoic protagonist. Ahn’s Dokja must use his knowledge of the fictional world to survive and team up with Jung-hyeok to save humanity.

Lee, known for Boys Over Flowers, The Heirs, and Pachinko, admitted it was his first time being the oldest among a cast and felt a sense of responsibility watching his younger co-stars. “Like an older brother, I felt responsible for them, so I needed to do my best,” he said.

For Ahn, who also gained fame through K-Dramas like Business Proposal and Doctor Romantic, the project marks his feature film debut. Though humble about his success, he expressed pride in sharing Korean culture with global audiences, both through KPop Demon Hunters and now Omniscient Reader.

The film also stars Chae Soobin, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Shin Seungho, Nana, and Kwon Eun Seong. The film was released internationally in the U.S. and Canada on August 1.
