Ji Sung has returned from his 10-year acting hiatus at MBC, only to travel 10 years into the past in his new role.

The time-travel web novel and webcomic series Judge Lee Han Young is being reimagined as a drama, with Ji Sung playing the titular role. Joining him are Won Jin Ah as Kim Jin Ah and Park Hee Soon as Kang Shin Jin. Lee Jae-jin and Park Mi-yeon will direct, while Kim Kwang-min is writing the script.

Ji Sung portrays a low-ranking judge who rises to power through unethical means and abuses his authority in court. Just as he resolves to change and renounce his corrupt ways, he dies. But he wakes up 10 years in the past and vows to atone for his sins—not by giving in to corruption again, but by dismantling it.

His last MBC drama was 2015’s Kill Me, Heal Me, where he played a character with dissociative identity disorder—a performance that earned him the Daesang at the MBC Drama Awards. Ji Sung is no stranger to legal dramas, having also starred in Innocent Defendant and The Devil Judge.

Park Hee Soon plays Kang Shin Jin, the Chief Criminal Judge at the Seoul Central District Court and a key figure in a shadow government led by a former president. Kang will stop at nothing to get what he wants—even if it means breaking the law. While Park recently appeared in a minor role in Squid Game, he’s best known for his acclaimed performances in Seven Days and My Name.

Won Jin Ah plays Kim Jin Ah, a prosecutor who teams up with Lee Han Young after he offers to help her take down S Group’s Jang Tae Sik. Won made her TV debut in Rain or Shine, which won her Best New Actress at the APAN Star Awards. She also appeared in Hellbound.

Written by Lee Hae-nal, the webnovel has garnered 10.66 million views, while the webcomic illustrated by Cheon Dol-dol has amassed 11.34 million. Unfortunately, neither version is currently available on an English platform.

Judge Lee Han Young is set to premiere in the second half of 2025.
