SQUID GAME 3 releases ominous trailer with new games and higher stakes

"Every game comes to an end."

Fans have been wracking their brains trying to guess what new horrors await in Squid Game’s final round—especially with the return of the iconic robot doll Young-hee and the appearance of her partner, Chul-soo. Now, they finally have answers.

At Netflix’s TUDUM event, the streaming platform dropped the first official trailer for Squid Game Season 3. Cast members from the global hit were in attendance as viewers got their first glimpse at the high-stakes finale.

The trailer opens with players entering a new arena where Young-hee awaits, holding a jump rope. As the rope swings ominously, the players look on in horror. The game appears to require contestants to jump without getting caught—or risk falling from a narrow platform. A grief-stricken and visibly shaken Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) screams, “Why did you keep me alive?” Meanwhile, the unflinching Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) watches from above, silently pulling the strings once again.

Another game teased in the trailer shows contestants navigating a surreal, maze-like alleyway. Walls are covered in childlike drawings, and a starry night ceiling hangs above them as they sneak through the twisted corridors, avoiding capture. The trailer closes with Gi-hun donning a suit with his player number stitched on the back—strongly suggesting that he’s returned not just as a participant, but as a contender in the endgame.

One of Netflix’s most-watched shows of all time, Squid Game had a rocky path to success. Director and creator Hwang Dong-hyuk struggled for years to get the concept greenlit. When the show finally premiered in September 2021, it became an overnight sensation. The story centers on Gi-hun, a divorced gambling addict who joins a deadly competition with 455 others, all desperate to win 45.6 billion won. But the childlike games come with lethal consequences, and the contestants must choose whether to survive, betray—or die.

Although Season 1 was originally intended as a standalone, the show’s explosive popularity prompted Netflix to greenlight more. After years of anticipation, Season 2 premiered on December 26, 2024.

Squid Game Season 3, the final chapter in the saga, premieres on Netflix June 27. Let the countdown—and the games—begin.
