Everyone’s favorite gangster ahjusshi is back at his favorite convenience store to see his favorite person.
Out of the blue, anime streaming platform LAFTEL released a PV for the BL manhwa Dangerous Convenience Store. The PV opens in the eponymous convenience store, where Beom Gunwoo kicks an aggressive customer out of the frame while poor Yeo Eui-joon clutches his head and freaks out. Gunwoo terrifies Eui-joon, but Eui-joon can’t help the way his heart seems to beat a hundred times faster in Gunwoo’s presence. Gunwoo never buys anything except cigarettes and alcohol—until one day, he picks up some extra-large…bedroom necessities. And despite three years of crushing on his friend Hyunwoo, Eui-joon still isn’t any closer to becoming something more to him.
Written and illustrated by 945, Dangerous Convenience Store follows broke college student Yeo Eui-joon, who works at a convenience store to cover his brother’s medical bills and tuition. The pay is good because the store is frequented by gangsters, and nobody except Eui-joon is willing to take the job. One day, another gangster walks in, but he doesn’t act like the other rough and violent men Eui-joon usually sees. Gunwoo doesn’t talk much and is blunt when he does, but why does Eui-joon feel like Gunwoo comes to the store just to see him, and actually cares about him?
Curious newcomer BL fans can read Dangerous Convenience Store digitally on Manta and Lezhin. The story runs for 88 main chapters and eight side stories, and is completed on both platforms. Seven Seas publishes the print version and plans to release the sixth and final volume on September 16.
The animated version of Dangerous Convenience Store premiered on May 30 and is available on LAFTEL. While LAFTEL also offers a global platform, access is currently limited to viewers in Indonesia, Indochina, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
